KIM LEONI - MEDICINE

Today's spotlight belongs to the half Indonesian half Dutch performer and former model Kim Leoni!

Kim spent her childhood living on Asia, Europe and North America, and while living in Miami, she learned her first dance steps on the streets, joining later to a dance troupe and spending her teenage years dancing and performing in clubs throughout the state of Florida and beyond.

At the age of 17, Kim became the spotlight for many modelling agencies, leading her to a short career as a model, but she found it unappealing and boring. So, Leoni returned to the musical acts, performing with a local pop band, where she got her first studio experiences.

In August 2006, Kim got her first musical collaboration in a song called Again.

In the beginning of 2009, Leoni's second single, Medicine, the full-energy song I'm posting today, got in the Top 10 of dance charts around Europe, hoping to storm into the US Billboard Dance Airplay Charts in the end of the year. Medicine was shot by the renowned Dutch photographer and video artist Ruud Baan, which created a great look for a great tune.

Is also known that Kim Leoni is working on her debut album with the producers Michel Pollen and Brane Kovak.

FORETASTE - THAT SMILING MAN

Hailing from Paris, France, Terrorist XX (aka Creature XX - the female element) and Terrorist XY (aka Creature XY - the male element) present us Forestaste, one of the most majestic synthpop acts I've ever known. XX is the ethereal voice of Forestaste, while XY is encharged of programming and backing vocals. (WOW! Much chromosomatic references in this paragraph ;P)

So far, Foretaste released two studio albums, Beautiful Creatures (2005) and Terrorist TV (2008), each one dropping one single: Discordance and Dying For The First Time In My Life, respectively.

Although Discordance was my first Foretaste contact and addiction, I'm posting about That Smiling Man, which started sounding pretty well in the last days.

This song contains most of what I seek in synthpop: the little crazy synths playing with an ethereal female voice, creating a majestic tune to be enjoyed anywhere! =D

The amazing La Roux

La Roux is a British electropop/synth duo that has been causing quite a buzz in the last few months, and that, surprisingly given the type of music they make, has had a major hit in the uk with the amazing 'In For The Kill'. La Roux consists of singer and synth player Eleanor Jackson (known as Elly) and co-writer and co-producer Ben Langmaid. So far the group has released 3 singles: Quicksand, In For The Kill and more recently Bulletproof, their self-titled debut album is to be released on July 29th. I must say right now it's the album I'm looking forward to the most! If most of the tracks are as good as the singles so far, it'll definitely turn out to be one of the best of the year.

Check out their 3 (amazingly stylized) videos:

LITTLE BOOTS - NEW IN TOWN

Victoria Hesketh, former lead singer/synth player of Dead Disco, now known as Little Boots, recently released the video to the first single of her debut album Hands, to be released in June 8th, under the production of Greg Krustin and Joe Goddard (Hot Chip).

After Stuck On Repeat and Meddle, New In Town brings back Hesketh's delightful synthy tunes.

What is Nightless Nights?

Nightless Nightles is a blog dedicated to sharing some of out favourite tracks, from the the lastest tracks by the  hyped acts of the moment, to the hottest remixes of big hits, to acts probably noone has heard of, to overlooked album tracks by some of favourite groups/singers, to anything else we feel like posting, basically.

We got the title from the Husky Rescue song Nightless Night, which is one of my favourite songs ever. It's quite different from their usual downtempo/chillout stuff, being actually quite poppy.

Check the video here.
